UGC 7069 : The largest ring galaxy

We find that UGC 7069 is the largest ring galaxy known to date. In this Letter, we present a multiwavelength study of this galaxy (combining radio, 2MASS, optical and ultraviolet data). The ring of UGC 7069, whose diameter measures ∼ 115 kpc, is also warped at its edges. The nucleus appears double-peaked and hosts a possible LINER. The ultraviolet data indicate a strong blue colour and suggest ...

The star formation history of the LSB Galaxy UGC 5889 ⋆

We present HST photometry of the LSB galaxy UGC 5889 and derive its recent star formation history. In the last 200 Myr the star formation proceeded in modest bursts at a rate of the order of 10 −2-10 −3 M ⊙ /yr, with periods of extremely low SFR or even quiescence. The rate derived from the present study for the last 20 Myr is in agreement with the Hα emission from the galaxy. The presence of a...

Extended Emission by Dust in the Dwarf Galaxy Ugc 10445

We present Spitzer Space Telescope images of the isolated dwarf galaxy UGC 10445. The galaxy is detected at all photometric bands (3.6-160 µm) as well as in the Multiband Imaging Photometer for Spitzer (MIPS) spectral energy distribution mode (55-95 µm). We derive a star formation rate of 0.25 M ⊙ yr −1 based on Hα and infrared flux densities. There is over 10 6 M ⊙ of cold dust (T ∼ 18 K) in t...

The largest strong left quotient ring of a ring

For an arbitrary ring R, the largest strong left quotient ring Ql (R) of R and the strong left localization radical lR are introduced and their properties are studied in detail. In particular, it is proved that Ql (Q s l (R)) ≃ Q s l (R), l s R/ls R = 0 and a criterion is given for the ring Ql (R) to be a semisimple ring. There is a canonical homomorphism from the classical left quotient ring Q...

Evidence for a Large Stellar Bar in the Low Surface Brightness Galaxy UGC 7321 . ⋆

Late-type spiral galaxies are thought to be the dynamically simplest type of disk galaxies and our understanding of their properties plays a key role in the galaxy formation and evolution scenarios. The low surface brightness (LSB) galaxy UGC 7321, a nearby, isolated, " superthin " edge-on galaxy, is an ideal object to study those purely disk dominated bulge-less galaxies. Although late type sp...
